The Trimble® Recon® GPS XC edition is a
highly convenient GPS solution for field
data collection and mobile GIS. The
all-in-one system combines either a
200 MHz or 400 MHz Trimble Recon
handheld with a CompactFlash card-based
GPS Pathfinder® XC receiver under the
Trimble Recon handheld's extended cap.
Cost effective and convenient
The Trimble Recon GPS XC edition
provides the same rugged, weatherproof
performance you’ve come to expect from
the Trimble Recon handheld, and with a
CompactFlash GPS receiver hidden under
the handheld’s extended cap, you have
nothing else to carry.
The 400 MHz system includes built-in
Bluetooth wireless technology and wireless
LAN, to connect to a range of peripherals
or to a WiFi network to send or receive
data. The built-in wireless LAN can also be
used with TrimPixTM technology to connect
to a range of WiFi-capable Nikon digital
cameras for automated capture of digital
images. Download the TrimPix technology
software, and you can take photos with
your high resolution camera and easily
send them wirelessly to your handheld.
Because it is so convenient and affordable, the Trimble Recon GPS XC edition is an ideal solution for utility companies, government organizations, and natural resource
agencies that are managing large deployments and tight budgets. The
Trimble Recon GPS XC edition has been specifically designed to provide positions in hostile environments, such as under forest canopy and up against buildings.
Postprocessed accuracy
If you need better accuracy than you can achieve autonomously, you can postprocess your data with Trimble’s GPS
Pathfinder Office software or the Trimble GPS AnalystTM extension for ESRI ArcGIS software. Postprocessing delivers reliable
2 to 5 meter accuracy and is the best way
to control the quality and consistency of
your data.

Because the Trimble Recon GPS XC
edition comes with the industry standard
Microsoft® Windows Mobile® operating
system, you get all the benefits of an
open platform for mobile devices. You
can run the software that best suits your
application, whether off-the-shelf or
purpose built. And with Windows Mobile
version 5.0 software, all your data and
applications reside in persistent storage,
so they are secure even in the event of
power loss.
The Windows Mobile 5.0 software includes
familiar Microsoft productivity tools such
as Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, Internet
Explorer Mobile, and Outlook® Mobile, as
well as increased security features.
Part of the Trimble product family
As part of Trimble’s family of rugged
GPS solutions, the Trimble Recon GPS XC
edition is compatible with Trimble software
solutions for GIS data collection and
maintenance. The Trimble Recon GPS XC
edition will work with Trimble’s TerraSyncTM
software, the Trimble GPScorrectTM
extension for ESRI ArcPad software, or
with applications designed with the
GPS Pathfinder Tools Software
Development Kit (SDK).
